Welcome! Here are some links to get you started reading Reylo fan fiction. We categorize by canon versus AU (alternate universe), length, and rating (from General Audiences to Explicit) so you can hopefully find what you want!

This is a crowdsourced document. Everyone’s taste varies, so you may not like everything here, but I hope you find a few authors or tropes you enjoy that you can search for on AO3! And if you have a fic you think is required reading for new Reylos, please submit it here! Here’s a guide to AO3 ratings:

Not Rated (NR)

This is the default option. For searching, screening, and other Archive functions, this may get treated the same way as mature and explicit-rated content. Choose this rating if you prefer not to rate your content.

General Audiences (GA)

The content is unlikely to be disturbing to anyone, and is suitable for all ages.

Teen And Up Audiences (T)

The content may be inappropriate for audiences under 13.

Mature (M)

The content contains adult themes (sex, violence, etc) that aren't as graphic as explicit-rated content.

Explicit (E)

The content contains explicit adult themes, such as porn, graphic violence, etc.

Tagging is everything on AO3. Authors tag ship pairings and content so people know what to expect. That can include trigger warnings, tropes, any sexual activity you’ll find inside the fic, etc. If you find a particular trope you like (Size Kink, Friends to Lovers, Kylo Ren Pain Train, etc.), you can search including that tag. AO3 has great functionality that also allows you to exclude certain tags, ratings, pairings, etc. You can also search by word count, completion status, etc. and filter by date, kudos, hits, etc.

Hot tip: Relationships with a slash are romantic (Ben Solo/Rey), while relationships with an & are platonic (Ben Solo & Rey). Some authors don’t know this, though, so you may not see this applied universally.

When they encounter a slave who is Force sensitive and rescue her from her predicament, Ben Solo finds he rescued much more than a slave girl - and Rey finds that her new master is much more than just another man who wants her to do his bidding.
