Fundraising appeals and goods collections for Türkiye and Syria by Stephen Hoffman
A list of organisations and individuals people can donate to raising funds or collecting goods, to help people meaningfully and practically respond to the humanitarian crisis in Türkiye and Syria, caused by large earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria early on the morning of 6 February 2023.
Earthquakes of up to 7.8 on the richter scale have devastated southern Turkey and northern Syria, claiming the lives of over 35,000 people so far, as well as wounding thousands more and many more displaced. The numbers of dead and wounded sadly continue to rise.

1. AKUT Research and Rescue Association
AKUT is a voluntary NGO involved in searching, assisting and rescuing all who require aid within its authority and means, in mountain or other nature-related accidents, natural disasters like earthquakes and all other emergency conditions by means of trained, disciplined, high-standard personnel and equipment, passing on knowledge to society with no political affiliation.
With an organisational structure that allows it to react rapidly to a wide variety of emergency situations, AKUT has the ability to make quick decisions in the face of crisis.
AKUT is the premier search and rescue organisation in Türkiye, with the largest number of members and the broadest variety of specialised skills.

2. AHBAP Association
AHBAP s a Turkish based humanitarian organisation responding to the humanitarian disaster caused by the earthquakes in Türkiye. They are a well-known, well-run, reputable, and trusted grassroots organistion in Türkiye.
AHBAP are reaching out to ask for financial support. Any donation, no matter how small, will help them provide much needed aid to those affected by the earthquake. Donations will help provide shelter, food, and medical supplies to those in need. Contributions will make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster.

4. Turkish Red Crescent
Their mission is providing aid for needy and defenceless people in disasters, so will be playing a leading humanitarian in response to the earthquake in Türkiye.
Turkish Red Crescent aims to meet the temporary shelter needs of internally displaced people (IDPs) from natural disasters, with the high-quality post-disaster emergency tents it manufactures.
Besides the disaster tents which can be used for a long term for both domestic and international humanitarian aid works, it also manufactures custom-made tents.

Turkish Red Crescent also provides services through the Mobile Kitchen Project, which aims to meet the nutritional requirements of those in need more quickly in ordinary and unpredictable extraordinary situations (natural and man-made disasters).
Soup, hot food, snack food and tea are distributed within the Mobile Kitchen. Mobile Kitchens contain food preparation and cooking units, as well as cooling and service section and the kitchens contain all the equipment of a modern kitchen.

5. The White Helmets (Syria Civil Defence)
The White Helmets are an internationally respected humanitarian organisation helping communities recover from war, military attacks and natural disasters. According to them, so far in their work they have saved over 120,000 lives.
The White Helmets are currently on the ground responding to the humanitarian crisis caused by the earthquake in North West Syria.

6. Molham Volunteering Team
The Molham Volunteering team help Syrians in need and refugees in Jordan,Türkiye and Lebanon.
They have launched the Emergency Earthquake Response fundraising campaign to support displaced people in Syria and Türkiye, who desperately need their help in securing alternative housing for them, urgent needs and financial compensation. Donations to their fundraiser will go towards their efforts to alleviate suffering and ensuring the most critical needs of as many people as possible affected by the earthquake are looked after and provided necessities they currently lack. 7. NuDay Syria
NuDay is a non-profit organisation that provides humanitarian relief to people affected by the crisis in Syria. Founded in 2013, NuDay is headquartered in New Hampshire. Since the start of the Syrian Revolution, NuDay has shipped millions of dollars worth of clothes, medicine, and food to displaced families in Syria.
It working to secure dignified & empowered aid for women and children affected by humanitarian crises.
NuDay's team is on the ground, responding with emergency aid in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Türkiye and Northern Syria. One of their partners is US AID. They are working on the ground with their partners, the White Helmets to rescue families and and gearing up to distribute needed aid: food baskets, winter equipment, emergency shelter and water. They are trying to reach as many vulnerable women and children as possible.

8. Bridge to Türkiye Earthquake Relief Fund (BTF)
On 6 February 2023 A massive 7.5 earthquake struck the southeastern part of Türkiye and was felt in multiple countries and also had a devastating impact on North Western Syria. Severe damage and many casualties have reported. Türkiye has requested immediate international assistance.
BTF’s approach to alleviating the pain and suffering that we are al witnessing in Turkey is in three phases:
Phase 1: Provide immediate assistance with Food, Water, and Warmth;
Phase 2: Provide immediate assistance for Sheltering;
Phase 3 and 4: Provide well-being for Children’s Health and Education.
BTF’s current Local Partner for Phases 1 and 2 is AHBAP Association, a well-known, well-run, reputable, and trusted grassroots organistion in Türkiye. BTF has already wired $50,000 to AHBAP within the first day of the earthquake, and an additional $100,000 on the second day.
100% of the funds collected by BTF for earthquake relief will be disbursed to AHBAP and any other local worthy partners in the upcoming days.
