Once upon a time, Simmers around the world were able to purchase, register and download The Sims 2 on Origin. It was a time of peace and prosperity. Then… it was taken down and replaced with Ultimate Collection. The new version was a blessing, but it didn’t come without a price. For years, Simmers were able to contact EA support to register it, but EA shut that option down. Now, The Sims 2 for PC can’t be purchased on any official sources.
This guide explains how to install Sims 2 on different systems like Windows or Mac.
I downloaded the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection through the google docs and followed the instructions exactly. Every time I attempt this, I receive the message in the installer log that states
"11:32:15 End of redistributables install phase
11:32:15 Setting up uninstall data ...
11:32:15 ERROR: Failed to copy C:\Program files\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\__Installer\Cleanup.exe to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\EAInstaller\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Cleanup.exe.
11:32:15 Missing source file: C:\Program files\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\__Installer\Cleanup.exe.
11:32:15 Failed to install cleanup program
11:32:15 Installer finished with exit code: 2
11:32:15 Shutting down data reader."
Has anyone had this? It keeps tells me the Sims 2 was not installed when I try to run the program.

I have the sims 2 ultimate from origin but it wont launch on my computer, it pops up an error that is blank but the top bar says The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff. I tried setting it to launch in windows mode and downloading the legacy directX versions as per other trouble shoot threads I found online but I havent been able to solve it, I'm not sure what to do

The Google Docs link no longer works, so I had to use the MegaSync link. The part I'm having trouble with is step 7 of the 3rd option: "After the game is installed, go back to the original archive that you first downloaded, and look for # Crack folder. Inside there should be a Sims2EP9.exe file. Extract it to ~\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\ and let it replace the existing one. This will prevent the game from trying to run Origin."
I can't do this because the original archive is a RAR file and there's no way (unless I'm mistaken) to see the files inside before extracting the entire thing.

Did you have to pay to finish the download using this method? It let me get to 4gb then stated wait 4hrs to continue for free. I left it overnight. Woke up and tried to continue and it would not. Basically forcing to pay.
